Introduction

Crew members of the USS Typhon are each assigned a rank which reflects that member’s contribution to the Ship, the local Fleet and the Organisation.

Crew members are able to earn rank promotions through a system of required and elective requirements: meet the correct number of requirements, and you have earned your promotion.

CommanderPromotions up to the grade of O-5 (Commander) are approved by the Commanding Officer.

CaptainPromotions from the grade of O-6 (Captain / Colonel) are approved by the Local Fleet Commander.

Fleet CaptainPromotions from the grade of O-7 (Fleet Captain / Brigadier) are approved by the Admiralty.

Tracking

It’s the responsibility of the individual member to keep track of the requirements he/she has met, as well as the necessary supporting documentation. When you’ve earned your promotion, bring it to the attention of your superior (in most cases your Department Chief, Second Officer, or Executive officer), and then the Commanding Officer will either grant or reject your promotion at that time.

Procedure

When you believe you’ve fulfilled the requirements for a promotion, please follow the following path of contact / Chain of Command.

Department Chief >> Second Officer >> First Officer >> Commanding Officer

Never go directly to the Commanding Officer to request your promotion, please follow the “Chain of Command”.

Rejected Promotion Requests

If your rank promotion is rejected for some reason, you may appeal the decision with the Commanding Officer. Having a rejected rank promotion will not prevent you from making successful requests in the future.

Demotions

Demotions are not taken lightly, the Command Staff has never demoted a member…..yet.

If a member were to violate our Fleet’s Rules and Regulations, or the laws of your local state & government. Then the Command Staff and the member’s Department Chief would hold a meeting with the member to discuss the violating

When wearing your Starfleet Uniform, here’s a few Do’s and Don’ts.

By default, the USS Typhon crew wear the Season 3 Picard uniforms (formerly “Nemesis”) style Star Trek uniform, but we have no restrictions in place stating that you MUST wear it. Any Star Trek uniform era or Star Trek themed costume is welcome (Borg, Klingons, Orions, Etc..), in the end, it’s the spirit of dressing up and having fun that counts!

ALWAYS…

    1. Do the Picard Maneuver and “Tug that top down!”.
    2. Fix your dept/rank collar before photos.
    3. Check your Gig line. (view link)
    4. Iron your uniform before an event.
    5. Wear Deodorant!!
    6. Try to stay in the Character you’re portraying.
    7. Have a neat trim/shave before Conventions/Events (mandatory!)
      • Facial hair is permissible as long as it is neatly trimmed.
      • Long hair on men should be kept neat (Worf had a neat & tidy ponytail)

PLEASE DON’T…

    1. Wave your Phaser at people or the cameras, please keep Phasers holstered at all times unless asked by the photographer.
    2. Put your arms over people’s shoulders, it gives your uniform an untidy appearance. Instead, put your arms behind your back (At Ease Position), or at your sides (Attention Position).
    3. Use different era props, please use the correct era props that go with your style of uniform. There’s always someone ready to nitpick photos.
    4. Wear too much visible jewelry, wedding rings & Bajoran earrings are acceptable though. If you’re dressed as Lwaxana Troi, then it’s in character and it’s okay.
    5. Leave home before putting on Deodorant first!!

We know it’s only a costume, but while you’re wearing it, you should treat it as a UNIFORM at all times.
