Note: We were formerly known as the USS Tydirium but the crew has voted on a rebranding to the USS Typhon in 2024, so you might encounter images that say USS Tydirium from time to time.
What do we do?
We actively participate in a variety of events, both large and small, that celebrate the Star Trek universe.
You’ll often find us gathering at prominent events like OzComicCon, Supanova, & GammaCon, where we immerse ourselves in the excitement of the broader fan community. Additionally, we actively seek out smaller local events in Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle, Wollongong, Goulburn, Canberra, and Lithgow, because we believe in embracing the vibrant Star Trek spirit at every opportunity.
As dedicated fans, we take great pleasure in building intricate props that bring the Star Trek world to life. Our talented members have created remarkable replicas, including a Holodeck and Bridge Console, which have become centrepieces of our gatherings. These incredible creations showcase our commitment to craftsmanship and attention to detail, and provide a unique backdrop for our collective love of Star Trek.
Where do we meet?
Our primary recommendation for finding out about our meet-up dates is to check the USS Typhon’s Facebook Events page. This will provide you with the most up-to-date information, especially if we are attending major events like Supanova, OzComicCon, GammaCon, OzTrek, and more.
For those residing outside the Sydney region, we have shuttles located throughout New South Wales. It’s always a good idea to reach out to your nearest shuttle commander to stay informed about the events they have planned in your local area. They will be able to provide you with specific details and ensure you don’t miss out on any exciting Star Trek gatherings happening near you.
When do we meet?
In light of the impact of Covid on in-person meetings, we have experienced a decrease in offline meetups. However, that doesn’t deter us from staying connected with each other through online platforms such as Facebook and Discord. These platforms serve as valuable channels for maintaining our community and engaging in discussions related to Star Trek.
In addition to online interactions, we have a weekly tradition of watching new episodes of Star Trek together on our chapter’s Discord group. This shared viewing experience allows us to stay up-to-date with the latest episodes and share our thoughts and excitement in real-time.
To stay informed about our meet-up and event dates, we encourage you to regularly check the USS Typhon’s Facebook Events page. This will provide you with the most accurate information on upcoming meet-ups and events, ensuring you don’t miss out on any opportunities to connect with fellow Star Trek fans.
